Portland is fun, but it’s no Tampa.

That’s the conclusion, anyway, of a study out earlier this month from Wallet Hub, which named Portland the 14th most fun city in the United States.

That means Portland is less fun than San Francisco, New York, New Orleans and Las Vegas, as well as four cities in the state of Florida, but it is more fun, apparently, than Los Angeles, San Diego, Washington, D.C., and Seattle.

Take that Seattle! We’re officially the most fun city in the Pacific Northwest, even without a single professional baseball team!

Wallet Hub ranked cities based on the categories of “Entertainment and recreation,” “Nightlife and parties” and “Cost.”

Portland’s best showing was in the “Nightlife and parties” section, where we came in at eighth, which implies people stay up past 8:30 p.m., an intriguing hypothesis I won’t be investigating further.

In the “Cost” category, we came in at 146th, which sounds slightly better when you know it was out of 182 and that the last spot was taken by New York City, a city named the ninth most fun city in America by Wallet Hub. It’s also important to note that Seattle ranked 179th in that category. Wow, we really are so much better than them in every single way!
