Portland Trail Blazers guard Anfernee Simons could return to action as soon as Wednesday night at Golden State.
At least, that’s what coach Chauncey Billups wants to see happen
“I hope so,” he said following Monday’s practice.
Officially, Simons, out since injuring a ligament in his right thumb during the first game of the season on Oct. 25, is day-to-day. But after being a full participant in Monday’s practice, all signs point toward a return this week.
“Stuff like that, the proper protocol is what I have to follow … " Billups said. “His conditioning looks pretty good. I feel good about it. But we’ll see.”
The Blazers (6-13) will return from playing Golden State (9-11) to host Dallas (11-8) on Friday night.
Simons, who injured the thumb on his shooting during a loss at the LA Clippers, was originally projected to be out four to six weeks. This week marks the sixth week.
