Perhaps Dan McMillan, president of The Standard insurance company, might ask JPMorgan Chase & Co CEO Jamie Dimon how and why he required his employees to return to the office, (“Downtown Portland task force co-chair balks at making workers come to office, even as mayor calls it a priority,” Aug. 23).
Although McMillan’s industry focuses on avoiding risk, this is a time to take a risk for the benefit of his community. He may well find that his company benefits as well. Individual employees who like working remotely don’t see the powerful benefits of employee community in an organization, but leaders do - if they look.
