Reporter Mike Rogoway wrote an interesting article about the University of Toronto’s revised study ranking post-pandemic recovery in downtowns, including downtown Portland, (“Downtown Portland is far more active than previously estimated, revised study finds,” Oct. 22).
The researchers should spend a couple of days and nights on downtown Portland streets. Then they would see the biggest amount of activity is the panhandling, drug dealing, robbery and shooting. They are correct there is more activity than previously estimated. The only trouble is, it’s not good activity - unless you’re a fentanyl salesman.
