I must take exception to the letter stating our government officials shouldn’t consider banning leaf blowers when there are so many pressing social issues needing action, (“Readers respond: Banning leaf blowers not a priority,” Nov. 28).

While I believe homelessness, drug addiction and other issues require serious and urgent action, I don’t believe we can ignore other issues that are detrimental to our health and quality of life. Leaf blowers are extremely polluting and the noise they produce destroys the peace in our neighborhoods. Rakes and brooms did the job in the past and should be our first choice once again.
