A Portland woman fell several hundred feet on Mount Hood Saturday, sustaining injuries that put her in a local hospital.

The 36-year-old woman, who authorities did not name, was hurt after the fall near the Old Chute, close to the mountain summit, around 11:30 a.m. She was going down the south-side route when she slipped, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Officials have not provided details about her injuries.

Portland Mountain Rescue personnel were already on the mountain and saw her fall. They called 911, then reached her and provided medical care. Additional rescuers soon arrived, and they helped keep the woman warm over the hours it took to get her off the mountain.

The rescuers got the woman to the Timberline Lodge parking lot around 9:30 p.m., and she was then taken to a hospital.
