Oregon women’s basketball signed two players to its 2024 recruiting class.
Point guard Katie Fiso and forward Faith Ehis Etute signed with the Ducks on Wednesday.
“I’m really excited about the two that we did sign and we’re still waiting,” Oregon coach Kelly Graves said. “There’s a week-long period; not everybody has made their commitments yet but the two we got are really good.”
Fiso averaged 22 points per game while leading Seattle’s Garfield High School to a third straight Washington Class 3A state championship. She’s the top-ranked four-star prospect and No. 32 overall in the class of 2024, according to espnW/HoopGurlz.
“Katie, I think — whatever the rankings say, who cares? — I think she’s the best point guard in the country,” Graves said. “Just true, pure point guard. And I kind of know points guards. I’ve coached some good ones over the years and she’s going to be a good one.”
Oregon is down to one healthy true point guard following the season-ending injury to Peyton Scott. Graves would not rule out the possibility of Fiso enrolling at UO midyear.
“Maybe, we’ll see, I don’t know,” he said. “She’s like student body president. I don’t think the student body president can give up her senior year. It would be nice and she’s ready. She’s a college-ready player.”
Etute, who is from Luxembourg, is a 6-foot forward. She’s competed for Luxembourg’s U16 and U18 teams in the women’s European Championships and for club T71 Diddeleng.
“Faith I think is going to remind people of a shorter version of Nyara (Sabally),” Graves said. “Really bouncy, strong, aggressive.”
