One of the most respected figures in Oregon baseball history is heading to one of the most hallowed homes in college baseball.

Pat Casey, who built the Oregon State baseball program from an afterthought into a national power, will be inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame as part of the 2024 class, the College Baseball Foundation announced Thursday.

The hall of fame class, which features a group of 12 players, coaches, umpires and administrators from all levels of college baseball, will be enshrined on Feb. 15, 2024, in Overland Park, Kansas.

Casey is one of the most successful coaches in any sport at any level in state history. He won 1,071 games, three national championships, five National Coach of the Year awards and five Pac-12 Conference Coach of the Year awards during 31 seasons at Oregon State and George Fox. In 2010, Baseball American named Casey its coach of the decade.

His most accomplished and noteworthy stint came at Oregon State, where he remains one of the most revered sports figures in school history. Casey was hired as the Beavers’ coach in 1995 and methodically built the program into a perennial power, guiding them to his first College World Series berth in 2005.

A year later, Casey led Oregon State to its first national championship, and the Beavers went on to win two more — in 2007 and 2018 — as they emerged as one of just two schools to win three titles in the 21st century.

Casey retired in 2018 after his third championship, a 5-0 win over Arkansas, which delivered his 900th win at Oregon State, sixth-most in Pac-12 history.

During Casey’s 24 seasons in Corvallis, Oregon State won 40 or more games nine times and 50 or more four times, including a school-record 56 in 2017. Along the way, more than 100 Oregon State players were selected in the MLB Draft and more than 20 went on to play in the Major Leagues.
