A new southbound frontage road along Oregon 217 now connects the Allen Boulevard and Denney Road interchanges. The road opened to drivers Thursday.
The Oregon Department of Transportation says the new road allows drivers to travel between these two closely spaced interchanges without entering the already congested freeway. The frontage access reduces merging onto OR 217, helping to reduce crashes and increase safety in the area.
The road replaces the Allen Boulevard southbound on-ramp to OR 217 and the Denney Road southbound off-ramp.
Drivers will notice these changes:
- Allen Boulevard southbound on-ramp to OR 217 and the Denney Road southbound off-ramp from OR 217 will operate as part of the new frontage road.
- Use the frontage road to travel to OR 217 south from Allen Boulevard
- Use the frontage road to travel to Denney Road from OR 217 south
In addition, the Denney Road on-ramp to the southbound highway reopened after a lengthy closure. All of these changes are part of the ongoing OR 217 Auxiliary Lanes Project.
The project reaches its halfway point in December. It remains on schedule for completion by the end of 2025.
