For the second year in a row, Oregon has lost a quarterback commitment in December.
Michael Van Buren, a four-star quarterback who committed to the Ducks in May, decommitted from UO on Saturday.
Rivals first reported the decommitment of Van Buren, who originally chose Oregon over Penn State and Maryland.
The 6-foot, 185-pound Van Buren is ranked No. 174 overall and the No. 13 quarterback in the class of 2024, according to the 247Sports Composite. He plays at St. Frances Academy with four-star cornerback Ify Obidegwu, who also committed to UO in May.
Van Buren is the third player to decommit from Oregon’s 2024 class, joining tight end Jackson Ford and receiver Tyseer Denmark.
The Ducks still have a commitment from 3-star quarterback Luke Moga in their 2024 recruiting class, which is still No. 7 in the 247Sports Composite.
