A man died early Friday morning when the car he was driving slammed into utility equipment at Northeast Sandy Boulevard and 112th Avenue, the Portland Police Bureau reported.

Officers were sent to the scene just after 5 a.m. Cables knocked to the street from the crash were not live wires.

This is Portland’s 45th fatal crash this year.
