Sean Mannion is returning to the Seattle Seahawks.

The Seahawks, with just two quarterbacks on their current roster, signed Mannion to their practice squad, the team announced Friday. The addition of Mannion gives the Seahawks a third quarterback after the New York Jets signed Brett Rypien off the Seahawks’ practice squad on Tuesday.

Mannion, 31, has had two previous stints with the Seahawks. He was with the club during training camp in 2021 and was on the practice squad with the team last season.

“Amazing recall that he can jump back in,” Seattle coach Pete Carroll told reporters Friday. “He’s a very special football player that he has so much command. That really is a benefit for us.”

Mannion, a third-round pick (No. 89) by the St. Louis Rams in the 2015 draft, has appeared in 14 career games with three starts. He last appeared in a regular-season game for the Vikings back in 2021, completing 22-of-36 passes for 189 yards with a touchdown during a 37-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 17.
