It was 12:55 a.m. when Clackamas County Sheriff’s Detective Daniel Ferguson alerted dispatchers by radio that he had fired his gun at a suspect who had fled early on June 18, 2022.

Ferguson and Oregon State Police Trooper Zachary Cole shot a total of eight times at Derrick Dewayne Clark Jr. as the 24-year-old Black man ran from them after his car was pulled over during a traffic stop in Milwaukie, according to grand jury testimony and clips of body camera and dashcam footage.
